CHRISTINE PARK GALLERY is thrilled to inaugurate its new space at 38 Pingwu Lu with Wei Xiaoguang's latest solo project, Wei Xiaoguang 579. This exhibition is a continuation of Wei's previous solo exhibition, Mellow Facts in 2022. Stories of Options is a series of small-scale ‘fire’ oil paintings that Wei Xiaoguang has been continuously creating in the past few years. In Wei Xiaoguang 579, the artist delves further into this ongoing series, featuring the 140 recent works, numbered from 439 to 579.
Wei Xiaoguang's work is rooted in his exploration of the finite nature of creative decision-making. Drawing inspiration from the principles of Mannerism, he meticulously crafts the systems and prerequisites that guide artistic creation, emphasizing the constructive elements. His works can be likened to the pixels in digital media as they artfully reconfigure familiar modes of thought and imagery, transcending from the realm of the retina to the domain of conceptualization.
